बाद में वे इसरो (ISRO) चले गए और Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (विक्रम साराभाई अंतरिक्ष केंद्र) की स्थापना में मदद की और पहले space launch vehicle program का बीड़ा उठाया।

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam को Missile Man के नाम से जाना जाता है। एक व्याख्यान (Lecture) देते समय कार्डिएक अरेस्ट (Cardiac arrest) से उनकी मृत्यु हो गई।

President के रूप में अपने कार्यकाल के दौरान उन्होंने विज्ञान और manufacturing technologies (विनिर्माण प्रौद्योगिकियों) पर कई Lecture दिए और उन्हें अभी भी पूरे भारत में सबसे प्रशंसित व्यक्ति के रूप में याद किया जाता है। उन्होंने Engineering और Manufacturing में विशेष रुचि ली।
